About Evan

I was born and raised in Victoria and attended local schools, giving me a lifelong connection to this community and the families who call it home. 

Community involvement has always been an important part of my life. I have worked and volunteered with local organizations, including the Intercultural Association of Victoria, Oaklands Community Association, Camp Thunderbird, and as an Education Assistant in SD61. I remain actively involved in supporting children and families through my current volunteer role on the board of Community Options for Children and Families.

One of the most rewarding chapters of my life was living in Gjoa Haven, Nunavut for three years. During that time, I had the privilege of working as a teacher, and as a project manager in developing a childcare facility for the community. The experience gave me a deeper appreciation for the importance of resilience, working in partnership with indigenous communities, and the multi-facted role childcare and education play in a child’s development.

Throughout my career, I have worked in education, childcare, community leadership, and public service. I have excellent experience in board governance, strategic planning, bylaw & policy development, and supporting children and families.

Today, I am the proud father of a baby girl whose curiosity and development inspire me every day. I currently work as an Emergency Planning Analyst with the Ministry of Environment and Parks.  

Whether as a teacher, educational assistant, daycare operator, volunteer, board member, non-profit leader, or public servant, my focus has always been the same: helping people, strengthening communities, and supporting children and families.
